The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted to expel Roman Polanski and Bill Cosby recently. Polanski and Cosby are only the third and fourth members to ever be expelled from the Academy. The second was Harvey Weinstein.
Former WNBA star and current NBA assistant coach Becky Hammon is scheduled to interview for the head coaching job of the Milwaukee Bucks this week, making her the first woman to ever do so. She's already the first woman to hold a full time position on an NBA coaching staff and the first to coach an NBA Summer League team.
When a Republican from Nevada called in during Rep. Pramila Jayapala's (D-Wash.) appearance on C-SPAN to question her citizenship, she just responded by calmly telling him “You have to be a U.S. citizen to be in Congress. I’m a proud U.S. citizen. I became a citizen in 2000. I’ve actually lived in this country since I was 16 years old.”

The Nobel Prize for Literature was cancelled this year because of a sexual assault scandal. Jean-Claude Arnault, a leading Swedish cultural figure and the husband of a Swedish Academy member, has been engulfed in allegations that he sexually harassed and physically abused 18 women.
The Washington Redskins cheerleaders were forced to pose topless as male donors watched during a 2013 trip to Costa Rica to shoot an annual calendar. Some cheerleaders were even forced to be "personal escorts" for donors. One cheerleader said it felt like the team was "pimping us out."
With the rise in female AI assistants like Alexa, there's a growing fear that increased use could lead to ingrained social bias relegating women to a subservient role. Unsurprisingly, the development of nearly all these systems was done by men.
